Located in midst of great Himalayas, the tiny state of Uttarakhand packs quite a punch when it comes to tourism. It is also called “Devbhoomi ” literally meaning the “Land of the Gods”. The state was carved out from northern Uttar Pradesh and became a state of its own in the year 2000. Dehradun is the capital city of Uttarakhand.

The origin of the sacred Ganga river is located here in Gaumukh in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

Here, some of the most popular hill stations for leisure travellers include Mussoorie, Rishikesh and Nainital. The state is also home to Jim Corbett National Park, the first National Park of India. It is a popular protected area in the country offering nice jungle lodges and campsites and is a treat for wildlife photographers. Other favourite places which have recently started attracting a lot of visitors include Ranikhet, Bhimtal, Sankri, Binsar, Lohajung, Pithoragarh, and many more. 

For those who seek adventure tourism, an Uttarakhand trek is a must. The region offers some incredible trekking, mountain climbing, and white-water rafting opportunities.
