Experience Highlights

1. Unmatched Mountain Views From The Singalila Trek

The Singalila ridge runs along the Borders of West Bengal, Sikkim and Nepal. Due to its proximity to Sikkim and Nepal, the views of high himalayan ranges from this route are captivating.

The highest points of the trail, Phalut and the Singalila Pass top, offers majestic views of some of the mighty himalayan giants – from the colossal Everest group of peaks to the gigantic massif of the Kanchenjunga range with its most awe-inspiring sight of the “Sleeping Buddha” formation.

On a clear day, these excellent vantage points produce enthralling views of 4 out of the 5 highest peaks in the world – Mount Everest(8848 m), Kanchenjunga(8586 m), Lhotse(8516 m) and Makalu (8481m). To capture and marvel at the highest natural wonders the world with our own eyes is a surreal feeling.

2. The Singalila National Park

Our Singalila Pass trek route goes through the Singalila National Park, one of the unique protected forest areas of the Eastern Himalayas.

Situated on the India-Nepal border, it is one of the most exotic Himalayan forests in India. The park is one of the last few places on earth where the elusive and rare Red Panda can be found in the wild.

Aside from the red panda, Singalila National Park is home to many other rare, fascinating mammals including barking deer, yellow-throated marten, Himalayan black bear, clouded leopard, black panther, leopard, Himalayan serow, pangolin, leopard cat.

The park is also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species found here. During the spring, the pristine forests come alive with the colours of over 20 different types of rhododendrons in bloom. Passing right through the deep, high-altitude jungles makes for an exciting and thrilling trek into the wild.

3. Culturally-rich Mountain villages

The trek itinerary for our Singlalila Pass adventure is designed to include a few of the most scenic and peaceful villages in the entire region. We stay in some of these beautiful remote hamlets surrounded by the thick forests and away from the touristy, crowded sites.

Few of these are still inaccessible by motorable roads therefore remaining relatively pristine, which adds to the peace and serenity of these tiny villages.

Full of idyllic farmlands, charming village paths, pretty, little houses and warm, friendly locals, these impressive hidden gems are one of our major highlights on this trip.
